Digital Agri Hub English (#D4Ag)
Digitalisation for agriculture (D4Ag) is the use of digital technologies, innovations, and data to transform business models and practices across the agricultural value chains. It addresses bottlenecks in, inter alia, productivity, postharvest handling, market access, finance, and supply chain management so as to achieve greater income for smallholder farmers, improve food and nutrition security, build climate resilience and expand inclusion of youth and women. In the last few years there has been a rapid evolution in D4Ag, which includes increasing use of drones, remote sensing, IoT, blockchains, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and next generation portable field diagnostic technologies. The increasing mobile phone penetration and mobile internet accessibility supported the process. The Digital Agri Hub tracks the development of the digital agriculture sector in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Acting as a multiactor knowledge broker and matchmaking platform, it focuses on inclusive digital development and provides a unique perspective towards scaling up and investing in digital agriculture innovations. This discussion group is intended for digital entrepreneurs; agricultural entrepreneurs; individuals and institutions investing in digital agriculture; international development organisations integrating digital solutions into their activities; farmers and agribusinesses deploying digital solutions; and research, policy and decision making bodies who need to understand and keep pace with the development of the sector. In order to exploit the full potential of digitalisation for agriculture, forum discussions will revolve around (but not limited to) exploring the state of digital solutions for agriculture, the opportunities for big data and analytics to drive reliable content for the solutions, addressing business development issues for the solutions, and the provision of enabling environments for digitalisation to thrive including capacity building, strategies, knowledge among others. Activities group members are welcome to promote or organise via this group include conferences, workshops, webinars or similar. Other networking opportunities, new resources, innovations, etc. are welcome to be shared via this group.
Created:21 Members, 30 Topics, Archive is visible to members only, Restricted, Last Post: -

GLAD Livestock - Championing investment in sustainable livestock
This is a space for people to share ideas and discuss ways to support investment in sustainable livestock sectors in developing countries - mainly through evidence generation, communication, policy advocacy and engagement. Evidence ( https://whylivestockmatter.org ( https://whylivestockmatter.org/ ) ) indicates that l *ivestock are critical for sustainable development yet often overlooked.* The world’s cows, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and other farm animals are the mainstay of livelihoods across the developing world. And the energy and nutrient-dense milk, meat and eggs these animals produce provide hundreds of millions of families in the world’s poorer countries with basic livelihoods, incomes, food and nutrition. This space is supported by the global sustainable livestock advocacy for development project (led by ILRI ( https://www.ilri.org/ ) ) as part of efforts to increase investment in sustainable livestock. Our aim is to catalyze a community of sustainable livestock sector champions, connecting efforts and supporting concerted efforts globally.Created:235 Members, 560 Topics, Archive is visible to members only, Restricted, Last Post: -

Open Forum on Participatory Geographic Information Systems and Technologies
Welcome to PPgis.net, the *Open Forum on Participatory Geographic Information Systems and Technologies*. In building a community of practice (CoP) around the concepts of Public Participation GIS (PPGIS)/Participatory GIS (PGIS) this DGroup aims at stimulating exchange of information on progress made in bringing the power of geospatial information management systems at community level. A prime objective is to provide disadvantaged groups in society with added knowledge-based resources for interacting with higher-level institutions, negotiating territorial issues, participating in land/resource use planning, management and decision-making, and influencing policy-making. This CoP supports the vision of participatory geospatial information management and communication linking different knowledge systems and improving multi-party communication on spatially defined issues. Members of this DGroup are able to share information and lessons learned and post questions, resource documents and announcements which are relevant to the practice. On this forum members can share their ideas, post questions and answers, showcase their practices or discuss topics related to the practices of participatory mapping and communication. Our editorial policy is to publish these unless these are meant to create an intentional conflict based on gender, religion or nationality. We also don't publish direct personal attack or pointed criticism (to an individual or organisation) unless this is supported by substantive evidence and/or justification as to why the author brings forward this. We do not publish “thank you” messages unless these do not contribute to further elaboration of the topic at stake. The forum is open to registered members and moderated by development practitioners and researchers with worldwide experience in a number of relevant disciplines. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for Agriculture
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones for management of crops, livestock, fisheries, forests and other natural resource-based activities represents a new technological frontier and opens up a range of exciting opportunities. UAVs offer also opportunities for grassroots’ involvement in monitoring use of and access to the resources their livelihoods depend on. Members of this community share their experiences in developing UAV technologies and related software applications and more importantly in making use of small UAVs to improve the management of crops, fishing grounds and other resource-based activities. Relevant events, capacity building opportunities and other resources are signalled as soon as these are known by members of the community. Being the use of UAVs for agricultural purposes a recent phenomenon, national aviation authorities are facing new challenges linked to the use of UAVs within their skies. Hence this Community focuses also on existing and forthcoming policies, laws and regulations governing the use of UAVs. Yeesal Agri Hub

DG-Dialogue
Online collaboration, dialogue and interaction – what works in international development. From mid July to mid September 2020, this Dgroups Foundation e-conference explored what works – and what doesn’t – when collaborating and acting together online. We aimed to co-create lessons and practices that will help us improve the ways we work online. * * Drawing on the experiences and lessons of Dgroups partners and collaborators, across sectors, platforms and regions, we used an ‘experience capitalization’ approach that draws out our individual and collective insights to produce actionable knowledge that will help us improve our own practices. We built on recent discussions ( https://www.dgroups.info/2020/07/effective-online-collaboration-dialogue-interaction-development/ ) about some critical online collaboration factors. We covered the following topics: * online platforms and technologies - which ones, and how to make them work for us * online group and community facilitation - what's needed, what works, and how we can do it better * online engagement and participation - how can we motivate people to contribute and interact * building trust in online groups - how we can provide safe spaces and build confidence and trust * inclusive online spaces - what we can do to foster equity, reflect diversity and overcome exclusion in our groups * effective online events - what works, and how we can deliver better virtual meetings We concluded discussing 5 key areas ( https://dgroups.io/g/dg-dialogue-online/wiki/22520 ) identified during the discussions: * Enhancing participation and engagement * Nurturing effective COPs * Using appropriate platforms * Learning through e-collaboration * Sustaining engagement through time Download a brief ( https://www.dgroups.info/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/DgroupsBrief-Jan21_v2.pdf ) synthesizing key points from the discussions See our wiki ( https://dgroups.io/g/dg-dialogue-online/wiki ) with notes from the discussions See notes from our zoom reflection meeting ( https://dgroups.io/g/dg-dialogue-online/topic/notes_from_online_workshop_on/77315053 ) on 24 September 2020 See the messages ( https://dgroups.io/g/dg-dialogue-online/topics ) shared See our overall agenda ( https://dgroups.io/g/dg-dialogue-online/wiki/21922 ) We want to make this dialogue as open as possible, so the messages archive, wiki and other resources are visible to anyone. However, only members can contribute. DG-Moderators
This is the place for group Owners and Moderators to share, discuss, learn and seek help to manage their groups. A few useful things to know about this group: * *Members* of this group are owners and moderators from Dgroups Partners that are using the groups.io platform; * *Messages* are set to non-moderated - if you reply to a message from this group, you will reach all group members * *Hashtags* are used to categorize and classify topics and conversations. These are the hashtags that you can currently use: * *#howto* - for guides and suggestions, questions on how to use the platform from a technical point of view * *#members* - for questions and guidance on how to manage your group members * *#moderation* - to discuss non-tech issues related to facilitating and animating a group * *#updates* - this is used only by the group moderator(s) to post when new features are released or changed on the groups.io platform. As we go along, we'll see which other hashtags would be useful to add - and which ones to remove.Created:39 Members, 30 Topics, Archive is visible to members only, Restricted, Last Post: -
